Water Transformation in the Heart of Warsaw

GreenLife Systems for Rainwater and Greywater Utilization in the Pioneering Studio B Office Building

With Studio B, a 17,600 m² office building has been developed in the center of Warsaw that sets new benchmarks for sustainable architecture, future-ready building technology, and the responsible use of resources. GreenLife, together with Green Water Solutions Poland, served as the system partner for rainwater harvesting and greywater treatment in this flagship project.

Architecture that Embraces Responsibility

Designed by the renowned Danish architectural firm Arrow Architects in collaboration with Poland’s Grupa 5 Architekci, the open and inviting design follows functional and ecological principles as much as aesthetic ones. Green roof surfaces, rain gardens, and sophisticated building services contribute to a significant reduction in the building’s ecological footprint. Simultaneously, the project creates a workspace that blends comfort and health with environmental consciousness.

Sustainability from the Ground Up

As the project developer and client, Skanska implemented a comprehensive ESG concept focused on sustainability, user comfort, and future-proofing. Even during the construction phase, materials with a reduced carbon footprint were utilized—such as innovative concrete with up to 46% lower emissions. This concept is complemented by smart building technology: adiabatic humidifiers, ultra-quiet climate control using chilled beams, and daylight-responsive lighting controls to minimize energy consumption.

Rethinking Water Cycles

GreenLife technology integrates seamlessly into this holistic concept. A high-performance greywater recycling system treats water from showers and washbasins directly within the building, redistributing it as process water for toilet flushing. Up to 10 cubic meters of greywater are recycled per day, resulting in a corresponding saving of fresh drinking water.

To ensure professional integration into the building’s layout, the system was installed across two levels—a demanding technical feat successfully executed by our experienced team. The system is further enhanced by an additional service water tank, a UV disinfection unit for hygienic safety, and digital level-sensing technology, all supplied and installed by GreenLife.

Purposeful Integration of Rainwater

In addition to greywater utilization, an intelligent rainwater harvesting system was installed. Rainwater collected from the roof surfaces is filtered, stored in underground retention tanks, and used for irrigating outdoor areas and for cleaning purposes. For this, GreenLife supplied a Biovitor DN 200 and two Biovitor DN 150 units, which, in combination with a concrete tank, ensure reliable rainwater purification and storage.

A Flagship Project for the Urban Water Transformation

Studio B impressively demonstrates how sustainable architecture and technical innovation can go hand in hand. In the midst of a pulsating metropolis, a building has been created that excels both functionally and ecologically.

For GreenLife, it is a great privilege to be part of this project—not least because it allowed us to once again prove our expertise in delivering complex, multi-stage large-scale projects. The experience gained in Warsaw motivates us to further deploy our solutions in Germany—for more livable cities and a conscious approach to water.
